CR = (orders ÷ website visitors) × 100

What is conversion rate?

Conversion rate is the share of visitors who place an order. If 5,000 people visited and 80 bought, your conversion rate is 1.6%. It is a simple way to see whether traffic turns into sales, not just visits.

CR = (orders ÷ website visitors) × 100

  1. What is a good conversion rate?

    A good conversion rate sits at or above what similar stores usually see. Higher is generally better: you get more orders from the same traffic. For a jewelry store, 1% can be healthy. For a snack brand, 3% can be healthy too. The number only makes sense next to your category.

  2. What is a low conversion rate?

    A low conversion rate is not a failure. It means most visitors leave without buying. If your rate is well below similar stores, you are paying for traffic that does not pay you back. That is the warning sign.

  3. A high number is not always better

    Do not chase a huge conversion rate if it comes from tiny orders. A 5% rate with a 20 basket can be worse than a 1.5% rate with a 120 basket. Watch conversion together with average order value.
